Character Bio: Geoffrey Rush is a man on the edge of brilliance and insanity in his role of the Marquis de Sade in "Quills." Rush constantly pushes the envelope with an energetic performance that has him bouncing off the asylum walls. This crazy attitude is just what is needed to breathe life into the antics of the Marquis de Sade's wild life, which drives him to an asylum. The Marquis De Sade questions all the other character and challenges them to think. These desires and insecurities of other characters in the asylum are brought to the forefront as Rush's character breaks all the rules. The turmoil created by Rush sends other characterıs encounters to a new level and tests the boundaries of what is decent and pure. Rush's ability to lend human empathy to his mixed-up character creates a well developed personality that is played out on screen to its fullest with all its hysterics and madness intact. With all the crazy roles Rush has taken over the years, one must wonder how his sanity remains once the filming is done. Or could it be he just balances out his insane behavior with multiple Oscar nominations?
