Harris spent a number of years researching and preparing for the role as an actor as well as a director. Harris bears an uncanny likeness to Pollock, which helped him easily slide into the character. Through Harris we see the ups and downs of Pollock's emotionally complex life and career. Harris captures Pollock's nature, creating scenes of alcohol binges, messy breakdowns and the flowing artistic painting sessions. Harris' energy and enthusiasm for his role will certainly play into the arms of academy members.
